Catholic Church Supports the Movie

 

The Catholic Church supports the movie, "The Woman Clothed with the Sun".  The archbishops and bishops below have all sent letters of support for this work.

Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz

 

Elected President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops on November 12, 2013, Archbishop Kurtz serves on the executive and administrative commitees.  He is the vice chancellor of the board of the Catholic Extension Society.  He serves on the Board of Trustees of the Catholic University of America and on the Board of Directors of the National Catholic Bioethics Center.  He also serves on the board of St. Charles Seminary (Philidelphia, PA) and on the Advisory Board to the Cause for Archbishop Fulton Sheen's beatification.  In Februrary of 2014, Pope Francis appointed Archbishop Kurtz to the Holy See's Congregation for the Oriental Churches.

 

His Holiness Benedict XVI appointed Most Reverend Joseph E. Kurtz, D.D. as the fourth Archbishop and ninth bishop of the Archdiocese of Louisville, KY on June 12, 2007.

Bishop Robert J. Baker, S.T.D.

Bishop Robert J. Baker, S.T.D., was ordained a priest March 21, 1970.  He was appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Charleston, July 12, 1999.  He was appointed Bishop of Birmingham in Alabama, August 14, 2007 by Pope Benedict XVI and installed Bishop of Birmingham on October 2, 2007.  

 

Bishop Baker has written several books.

Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann
 

On Jan 15, 2005, Archbishop Naumann assumed the responsibilities of the 4th Archbishop of Kansas City, Kansas.

 

Archbishop Naumann is Chariman of the Kansas Catholic Conference, He is a member of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops - Committee on Pro-Life.  He is a member of U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops - Committee on Marriage and Family Life.  He is also a member of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary Board of Trustees.

Bishop Naumann will serve in an advisory capacity on the flim of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

 

 

 

Archbishop Samuel Aquila
 

Archbishop Aquila was named the Archbishop of Denver on May 29, 2012 by Pope Benedict XVI.

 

For his epsicopal motto, Archbishop Aquila has chosen, "Do whatever he tells you."  His ministry as shepheard of the people of northern Colorado is dedicated to helping every person experience the love of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and be moved by that encounter to a lasting commitment to share the Gospel.

 

Archbishop Achila was ordained to the priesthood in Denver on June 5, 176 and served the DEnver Archdiocese for 25 years before being appointed Coadjutor Bishop of Fargo, N>D. on Nune 12, 2001.  On March 18, 2002, he became bishop of Fargo, North Dakota.

Auxiliary Bishop John M.Dougherty, D.D.

Bishop Joseph Vasquez

Bishop Joseph Vasquez was installed bishop of Austin Texas on March 8, 2010.  Bishop Vasquez was the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston's Vicar General overseeing administrative operations of the largest diocese in Texas and the 11th largest diocese in the U.S.  He has also served as the Episcopal Vicar of Hispanics and was the Archdiocesan Liaison for Youth during his years in Galveston-Houson.

 

He currently serves on the following committees of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).  

 

Subcommittee on Hispanic Affairs

Subcommittee on the Church in Latin America

Episcopal Moderator of the National Catholic Association of Diocesan Diretors of HIspanic Ministry (NCADDHM) and on the Steering Committee of Christian Churches Together (CCT).

Auxiliary Bishop John M. Dougherty, was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Scranton and Titular Bishop of Sufetula by Pope John Paul II.  As auxiliary bishop, he served as rector of Villa Staint joseph in Dunmore and Vicar of Administration (2004-present).  

 

He seved as assistant pastor at the Church of St. Ann until 1962.  He became professor of ascetical theology at St. Pius X Seminary in Dalton.  He became director of the Society for the Propagtion of the Faith.  In 1972, he was appointmed assistant chancellor and assumed the dutiies of Pro-Life Director.

 

He continues to serve as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Catholic Distance University.

 

At age 75, Auxiliary Bishop Dougherty submitted his mandatory retirement and is now Bishop Emeritus.
